If you haven’t been to the beautiful and pristine Richard’s Preserve, allow this work session to be your introduction. We need volunteer help to repair a short section of trail and to control an infestation of invasive species coming in from the roadside. Please bring a shovel and sturdy work gloves (some provided). The PRLC is a member of the Hudson Valley Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (PRISM), a working group that strives to collectively address invasive species issues for the protection of biodiversity and environmental systems.

Location: Halle Ravine, located on Trinity Pass Road near the intersection with Donbrook Road
Hunt for early signs of Spring with a naturalist guide in the forests and wetlands of Halle Ravine. We will discuss the recent clearing of invasive species in the north end of the Preserve and the marking of hemlock trees throughout as work to protect this historic forest for future generations to enjoy. We will also be on the hunt for the earliest signs of Spring: frogs, toads, salamanders, and ephemeral flowering plants! Plant a tree at Halle Ravine for Pound Ridge’s official Arbor Day Celebration! Please join PRLC and the Pound Ridge Conservation Board in welcoming arborist Brad Gurr of Bartlett Tree Experts, who has generously donated the saplings for Halle Ravine. Volunteers can help to head-start the next generation of trees at Halle and protect the long-term health of this beloved forest. Orientation and training starts at 10am, noon, and 2pm.
