Job Description
Pound Ridge Land Conservancy (PRLC) is looking to hire a self-starting and energetic program manager for an exciting opportunity to lead and improve our development and fundraising efforts, driving forward the vital work of conserving land for future generations.
The Development Program Manager will spearhead the strategy and execution of PRLC’s development initiatives, focusing primarily on donor stewardship and communications. This role will involve crafting and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, producing and maintaining donor communications, connecting with donors, engaging and mobilizing our all-volunteer Board and Volunteers, and leading significant growth in our fundraising outcomes.
We will look to you to update and improve our Fundraising Plan and Communications Calendar and ensure that these are actionable using our all-volunteer board. We expect significant focus on stewarding and growing Major Donors (e.g., $300+ annually) who historically have funded 85% of our budget. Your efforts will enhance PRLC’s visibility and engagement within the local community, supporting our mission of preserving Pound Ridge’s land and promoting biodiversity. Your work will directly influence the strategic direction and operational capabilities of PRLC.
Success will be measured by your ability to:
Take ownership of this development plan
Show the PRLC Board how an effective development plan reaches fundraising milestones
Hold the PRLC Board accountable for its roles and responsibilities in development so that the entire organization can level-up its fundraising capabilities
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage a detailed outreach calendar, including the coordination and execution of annual appeals, impact statements, regular newsletters, and donor engagement/appreciation events.
Enhance donor stewardship programs with regular follow-up and ensure our dozen volunteer Board members are actively involved in donor engagement and activities that highlight the value of our preserves and gather feedback from key donors.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fundraising initiatives, aiming for a 20% year-over-year increase in donations.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in non-profit development, stewardship, communications, or related fields.
Proven track record of collaborating on large-scale projects from conception through execution.
Strong interest in environmental conservation; previous experience with land conservancies is a plus but not required.
Excellent problem-solving, independent working, and communication skills.
Compensation and Work Environment:
Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week)
$1600-$2200 monthly, depending on experience, with opportunity for growth
Primarily remote, but Manager will be expected to attend PRLC events, Board meetings, etc. – local to Westchester a plus
You will collaborate closely with our Land Steward and Board, driving projects and wearing different hats as needed.
