Filippine Hoogland, born in Amsterdam, raised by garden enthusiasts, started to work on dairy farms in the Netherlands, Italy, and France since her teens. She returned to Amsterdam to receive a masters in arts, and then left for the USA and started to work as a professional landscaper. Fillipine started the Healthy Yards organization, consisting of professional and master gardeners, and garden "passionates" in the Westchester area. She has also received several awards for her work as a promoter of sustainable landscaping, among them, she received the Lady Bird Johnson Native Plant Award.
